The $100 Golden Glizzy: Luxury Caviar Hot Dog Turns Trend

A $100 hot dog was always going to get people talking. What happened next was far more interesting.

Golden Goat Caviar's Golden Glizzy first turned heads at the 2026 Miami Open: an Australian Wagyu hot dog layered with mascarpone, crème fraîche, Classic Ossetra caviar and edible gold flakes, all tucked inside a freshly baked croissant bun.

The Golden Glizzy went on to make an appearance at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, generating another wave of attention around a dish that deliberately blurred the line between familiar comfort food and unapologetic indulgence.

Now, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) has joined the conversation.

In its feature, The Rise of the $100 Hot Dog, the WSJ explores how the American hot dog is being reimagined with unexpected flavors, premium ingredients, and extravagant presentations. Its section on “The Caviar Dog” leads with Golden Goat's $100 Golden Glizzy.

For us, the story is more than a $100 hot dog, making it into The Wall Street Journal.

It's how far one unexpected idea has traveled — and what it says about the increasingly playful ways people are choosing to enjoy exceptional caviar.

One Hot Dog. A Much Bigger Idea.

The Golden Glizzy didn't begin with a rulebook for how one should serve caviar.

Quite the opposite.

The idea was to take something instantly recognizable and turn expectations on their head. Australian Wagyu replaced the everyday frank. A freshly baked croissant bun added buttery layers. Mascarpone and crème fraîche replaced the usual condiments. Then came 30 grams of Golden Goat Classic Ossetra caviar, fresh chives, and edible gold flakes.

The finished Golden Glizzy made its debut at the Miami Open, created in collaboration with Chèvre Miami, Ficelle Bakery, and Beauregard’s Fine Meats & Butchery.

Its $100 price naturally became the headline. But the combination itself gave people a reason to keep talking about it.

Golden Goat Managing Partner Keith Glickman explained the thinking to Axios Miami at the beginning of the Golden Glizzy story. The team wanted to showcase sustainably farmed caviar in unexpected yet thoughtful ways and tested several ideas before choosing the hot dog — a familiar format with universal appeal.

That approach has always mattered more to Golden Goat Caviar than following convention.

Why? Because caviar doesn't need to stay within the confines of a formal dining room to remain exceptional. It can arrive tableside with a mother-of-pearl spoon, or be served at a caviar bump bar. And, as Miami discovered, it can sit very comfortably on top of a Wagyu hot dog.

From Miami Moment to a Wider Conversation

By the time the Golden Glizzy reached the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, there was little need to explain the idea.

The dish had already developed an identity.

At the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix, the Golden Glizzy returned to the Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Garden at Hard Rock Stadium, where Wagyu, croissant, mascarpone, crème fraîche, Ossetra caviar and gold found a natural home amid the energy of race weekend.

The Wall Street Journal feature marks something different.

Rather than covering the Golden Glizzy as an attraction at a particular event, the WSJ places it within a broader story about what is happening to the humble hot dog itself.

The publication looks at chefs and hospitality concepts giving the American staple increasingly extravagant treatments, from international toppings to towering presentations and premium ingredients.

And when the story turns to caviar, it turns to Golden Goat’s Golden Glizzy.

The WSJ describes its 30 grams of Ossetra caviar, mascarpone, crème fraîche, edible gold and croissant bun before speaking to Keith about the reaction to its now-famous price.

“People said, ‘Oh, wow, $100 hot dog,’” Keith told The Wall Street Journal, before pointing out that a tin of the Ossetra alone retails for $120.

His conclusion was characteristically simple:

“You're getting a deal here.”

Why Caviar on a Hot Dog Actually Works

Of course, getting attention and deserving another bite are two different things.

The Golden Glizzy needed to do both.

Its appeal starts with contrast. Rich Wagyu meets cool mascarpone and crème fraîche. The croissant bun brings buttery crispness, while Classic Ossetra adds delicate pearls, salinity and depth.

Each ingredient has a job to do.

That's an important distinction. The caviar isn't there simply because putting caviar on a hot dog sounds extravagant. It changes the bite and leaves something worth remembering.

And perhaps that explains why the Golden Glizzy became more than a one-event novelty.

There is something inherently playful about taking an ingredient with centuries of dining tradition behind it and serving it somewhere unexpected. Done well, the result gives you another way to appreciate premium caviar.

That is increasingly how we think about caviar at Golden Goat.

Tradition still has its place. A chilled tin, a mother-of-pearl spoon and quality fine dining.

But tradition can also come with freedom.

Caviar can crown a potato chip. It can finish a Wagyu hot dog. You can share it from a caviar tin beside a pool, pack it into a travel tote for a weekend away, or serve it directly from a pearl caviar spoon.

The ingredient remains exceptional. The occasion can be whatever you want it to be.

The Wall Street Journal may be documenting the rise of the $100 hot dog, but Golden Goat's part in the story started with a much simpler question:

Where else can great caviar go?

So far, the answer has taken us from a Miami tennis tournament to Formula 1 and now to the pages of The Wall Street Journal.

Golden Goat brings that same spirit home. Combine unique ingredients, or add caviar to the familiar classics to create your own “Golden” caviar experience. Give it a catchy name while you’re at it.

Then, take it poolside, pack it for a ski lodge, a lookout point, or a weekend away.

You have freedom. Use it.

And if the occasion calls for a caviar bump along the way, we certainly won't object.
